VR Metaverse Stadium — BSS Digital Twin
Commissioned by Billion Seat Stadium (BSS), this project brought people together in a virtual venue: a digital twin of Sydney’s Allianz Stadium. Users could jump into a shared space, talk with friends via integrated 4-way voice, and experience a real-time soccer simulation — before the stadium even opened to the public. I led design and technical art from an early prototype to a polished, multiplayer VR experience.

Description
A VR venue where distance disappears. Built as a shared experience around a live, motion-captured soccer simulation inside a faithful digital twin of Allianz Stadium — delivered ahead of the real venue’s public opening.
The application evolved from a basic multiplayer framework into a fully integrated experience with lobby flow, 4-way voice communication, environment optimization, and avatar presence. Below is a brief breakdown by stages.
Stage 1
- Initial application with basic multiplayer integration
 - Voice communication foundation
 - Basic loading flow into the application

                  Stage 2
- Multiplayer lobby system design
 - 4-way communication integration (audio)
 - Initial lobby UI layout
 - Test environment for iteration
 - Early soccer simulation work

                  Stage 3
- Client-provided 3D stadium environment integration
 - Heavy scene optimization: reduced from ~145M to ~324K polys
 - Initial lighting & base materials across the scene

                  Stage 4
- Refined lighting, materials, and textures; night mode look with extra light FX & particles
 - Baked emissives & performance-minded tweaks
 - Ready Player Me avatars with proximity animations
 - Advertising/media placements to explore alt revenue (food, merch, sponsors)
 - Clean UI visuals, ready for full VR implementation

                  Conclusion
Delivered as a pre-launch showcase, the VR Metaverse Stadium proved how a digital twin can feel socially alive: presence, conversation, and a compelling match atmosphere — even when people are miles apart.
Advanced features & realism
- Integrated 4-way voice communication
 - Dynamic 3D environment creation and heavy optimization
 - Ready Player Me avatars for personal presence
 - Explorations in sponsors/ads/merch for alternative revenue

The result highlights the potential of real-time digital twins for sports and entertainment, blending technical craft with meaningful social connection.
